Extend the life of your wallets and bags by performing leather care on time.
A good quality leather wallet becomes more beautiful with use and reveals its unique textures. As it gets older, it gains character and its true value is realized over the years. One of its most important features is its longevity. You can maintain the durability of the leather and extend its life by taking care of your leather wallets and bags with a few simple steps.
Despite this modern world where everything is used and thrown away, it is possible to leave your handmade leather wallets as a heirloom to your children and even your grandchildren with a little careful use and care.
1- CAREFULLY PROTECT YOUR WALLET AND PURSE AGAINST STAINS
The leather we use is tanned naturally and our production process goes through completely traditional methods. We do not use finishing polish or paint to preserve the natural texture of the leather. Thus, we expect the leather to develop a natural patina that becomes more beautiful with use. We want you to take utmost care to protect your wallets or bags against stains.
2- IF THE LEATHER WALLET IS TOO WET
Empty the contents of the wallet and dry gently in its natural state. Room temperature is most ideal. Never use the hair dryer. Rapidly drying leather changes its chemical structure and its fibers harden. Rest assured, this is the last thing you want.
3- IF THE SKIN IS TOO DRIED
Over time, the leather loses its oil and its fibers dry out and begin to crack. This situation causes permanent deformations in the skin and the skin loses its durability. For prevention, wax-based waxes sold for shoes will be useful. You can even use clear, colorless hand cream (or petroleum jelly). Apply a small amount of cream to a clean sponge and rub it into the skin with circular movements. Afterwards, simply wipe it with a cotton cloth to remove any residue. We recommend that you do this after every heavy leather cleaning or once a year.
4- IF THE LEATHER WALLET IS SCRATCHED OR DIRTY
If there are heavy stains, vinegar and soap are good cleaners. Mix vinegar and soap, apply a small amount to a cloth and rub the skin. Afterwards, simply wipe it with a cotton cloth to remove any residue. Definitely, definitely do not use wet wipes! (Alcohol and other chemicals contained in wet wipes damage the leather.) After these procedures, you can lubricate with leather care cream as in item 3.
5- DO NOT FULLY FILL YOUR WALLET
Leather is inherently stretchy. Wallets may be difficult to use at first, but over time the card slots will get used to them. When you start filling your wallet beyond its capacity, it adapts to you but is now deformed. Get used to carrying the right amount of card/cash, leave the wallet alone 🙂
6- KEEP AWAY FROM MOISTURE
If you have a body that sweats a lot and your wallet is exposed to sweat in your hand or pocket during daily use, leave it outside from time to time to allow the skin to ventilate. Also, do not wrap wallets you do not use in plastic bags when storing them. Humidity and humidity are the enemies of the skin. Do not keep the leather in humid environments.
